Trial sequential analysis. 1541 patients are included in 14 RCTs. TSA is conducted with an α of 5% and a β of 10%. The risk of complications is set to 14% and the relative reduction of risk to 20%. The necessary sample size to reject or accept such an intervention effect is 5904 patients
