Sticking with new habits, acknowledging contradictions (dialectics), coping with worry, skills for acceptance and change

After discharge, via secure live video

 3. Adjusting to life after stroke

Challenges adjusting to life after stroke, understanding stressors (self and others), and coping with stress

 4. Navigating interpersonal relationships

Relationship role and self-image changes after stroke, skills for acceptance and change, effective communication and interpersonal effectiveness

 5. Adherence to rehabilitation regimens

Sticking with your rehabilitation program, making time for self-care, setting SMART goals

 6. Fear of stroke recurrence

Mindfulness strategies to cope with fear and worry, using the decision tree for acceptance and change

 7. Making meaning from our experiences

Exploring the stroke and post-stroke experience, balancing change and acceptance, mindset for recovery

  1. Modules 1 and 2 were administered to all dyads. Only four out of the remaining five modules were administered to dyads. These four modules were chosen cooperatively by the therapist and dyads
